A Clinical Study of Transaminase Activity on Several Liver Diseases

Abstract
For three years, from January 1964 to December1967, observation had been made to 120patients among in-patients and out-patients at Pasan University Hospital, who were definitely diagnosed as having several liver diseases through clinical findings, laboratory findings and biopsy to find, 1. the change of transaminase titer examined by liver disease,
2. inter-relationship between GPT and GOT in acute hepatitis,
3. analysis of GPT process in acute hepatitis, and came to the conclusion as follows:
A. The maximum GPT and GOT titers in acute hepatitis were 970 units and 900 units respectively. When GPT and GOT quotient was>1, it was 74%.
B. The maximum titer of GPT and GOT in chronic hepatitis ware 150 units and 100 units respectively. When GPT and GOT quotient was> 1, it was 50%.
C. The maximum titer of GPT and GOT in liver cirrhosis were 140 anal 170units respectively. When GPT and GOT ratio was> l, it was only 40%.
D. The maximum titer of obstructive jaundice were 145 units and 150 units respectively. When GPT and GOT ratio was>1, it was only40%.
E. The result of GPT titer process in patients of acute hepatitis showed remarkable increase in the first 14 days, but after that it decreased to be normal by degrees in 3 Weeks earliest and 4 or 8weeks latest.
